Justification for Changing

the Name of Berkshire Downs Subdivision

The name of our neighborhood has become extremely affected by the reputation of our surrounding area. Berkshire Downs West, although not connected to our neighborhood, has an obvious issue with crime. As Berkshire Downs West makes it into the news more and more for the negative, the positive aspects of Berkshire Downs have been overshadowed.

There are some major differences between our neighborhood and Berkshire Downs West. Since these differences strongly hurt our neighborhood reputation, changing the name of our subdivision is a great way to show the entire community how different we are so we can allow the positive aspects of our neighborhood to be recognized.

Differences between our neighborhood and Berkshire Downs West include

1. Crime- We have a low crime rate, whereas Berkshire Downs West has a very high crime rate.

2. Berkshire Downs West is in the City, whereas we are not.

3. We have large lot sizes for our homes, whereas Berkshire Downs West has small lots and Section 8 Housing.

Also, please see the attached spreadsheet showing crime happening around us. This is the hard data people have available to view on line when considering moving to our neighborhood and surrounding area.

Please sign the attached petition if you agree with changing our neighborhood name to disconnect from negative association with Berkshire Downs West. This would be just the neighborhood name. Our addresses would not change and there are no foreseeable costs to each household for this change.
